Mill Museum

Idyllic museum area along the Juuanjoki (Juuka’s river) where you can explore the restored mill, the miller's cabin, a shed building and a smoke sauna. The Mill Museum is located within walking distance of Puu-Juuka.

Herralankoski park

In the park next to the Mill Museum, you can find an old log-floating chute and carpet washing place which is still in use. Admire the river’s white water of Herralankoski from the enchanting Haaveiden silta (the bridge of dreams).

Juuka's hometown trail

On Juuka’s hometown trail, you can get to know the history of Juuka’s old municipal center and culturally significant buildings with the help of nine signboards and QR codes. The hometown trail starts at Juuka ABC.

Village Museum

The museum is a granary full of historic country artefacts. Enter and explore the museum with time.

Kauko Kortelainen sculpture park

The sculptor Kauko Kortelainen’s sculpture park is in Juuka central park. The park serves as an event arena, for example stone carving events.

Simpauttaja sports park

Outdoor gym, parkour area, artificial grass field, multi-purpose arena and play areas. At Liikuntapuisto you will definitely find something to do for the whole family.

Tree species park

You can admire various tree species in the park and stop for a picnic. Continue the trip to the Kokkokallio hiking trail next to the park.

Church of Juuka

Evangelical Lutheran church in the center of Juuka. Admire the yellow painted wooden church from the outside and go inside if the doors are open.

The tsasouna of the Holy Prophet Elia

Orthodox church near the center of Juuka. Admire the tsasouna or prayer room from the outside and go inside if the doors are open.

Porttilouhi

Porttilouhi gorge is in the village of Vuokko. The Porttilouhe gorge and the 1.5-kilometer-long trail leading there is a great excursion destination, the gorge scenery is sure to be enjoyed by everyone. There is a campfire place on the crag of Porttilouhi where you can eat snacks and admire the magical gorge from above.

Paalasmaa archipelago

The breathtakingly beautiful Paalasmaa archipelago consists of nine different islands. Traveling to Paalasmaa is an experience thanks to the ferry, causeways and bridges. You can feel Lake Pielinen's presence everywhere.

National parks around us

Puu-Juuka is an excellent base when you want to take day trips to national parks. About an hour and a half away from Puu-Juuka you can find the national parks of Koli, Hiidenportti, Tiilikkajärvi and Patvinsuo. Koli is only half an hour away from Puu-Juuka!
